I've been waiting for this day for a long time. The day when I can tell you all the best mens fashion trends to keep up with in the year 2023. I know what you're thinking: "Is there anything new in men's fashion?" It turns out, yes! There are a lot of great trends coming up that will help you look sharp and put together. Here are some things that have changed about men's clothing over the years so far, and how they'll continue to evolve in the future.

In the future, menswear will continue to be a major part of the male wardrobe. In fact, it's likely that men will still be wearing suits in 2023. But how do you dress for such an occasion? Who designed Ebuka's Agbada

 Ebuka is always known to break the internet every Sunday with his outlandish outfits, pushing the boundaries every time he has to go on that stage while leaving the audience expecting more from him. 

For today's live show Ebuka wore a piece by Ugomonye. The same designer responsible for the iconic Agbada worn during Banky W's Traditional marriage. 

 

With elaborate embroideries this  piece is unique because its probably the first time we are seeing a bow worn with an agbada. Taking over 20 hours to hand bead, the robe is  avant-garde and starts a new trend for men in Nigeria.

 

How To Dress Well: Are They Any Rules?

 It is often said that style is  a reflection of who we are, what we like and most importantly what we are comfortable wearing. If all these are true then are there any rules? and if they are should we even pay attention to them?

 For the most part rules should be understood as 'accepted principles or instructions that states the way things are or should be done.' and if style is a reflection of oneself, to what extent can we allow fashion rules to determine what we should or should not wear?

 To most people these rules can determine how we appear to the extent where they still allow us to show our individual personality. Rules in this sense are only to ensure that we do not go below a minimum level or standard. But, the most important question now is "who sets these rules?" The obvious answer here will be nobody. So, why do we feel obliged to respect these rules? 

To most the credibility of these rules are often questioned while some others  painstakingly follow to the latter, in my observation these rules are merely suggestions given based on either common logic or knowledge or on what appears good and appealing to the eye. 

However one may feel about these rules or suggestions we should understand that some have lasted for a good number of  generations and have served for a while and as they evolve to meet the aesthetics of the newer generation they continue to play a role in shaping our fashion choices. 

Some Invaluable Men's fashion rules that continue to shape our choices include:

1. Invest in a good suit

The fit of  a suit is everything, getting a bespoke is the best as this will be tailored to your body shape and size but when that is a luxury and not feasible when getting one off the wrack one should pay attention to how it fits at the shoulders. A good fit at the shoulders will not only make you appear strong and tall but the chest and waist can easily be altered. The sleeves of the suit should stop at the cuffs, you don't want to look like you borrowed your dad's. The pants should be tailored to enable that clean and sophisticated effortless look.

2. The Right Pair of Shoes 

The right type of shoe with the right outfit will not only seal the deal but will enhance your look and confidence. Quality shoes with the right pattern, colour, sole will take your through your fashion journey effortlessly. and with the basic types being derby, oxford , loafers and some boots it will defiantly be easy to navigate. 

3. Accessorising the Right Way

The suggestion here is to keep it minimal. Investing in a good piece of watch is a must. A good watch is not necessarily expensive but to choose one that fits your wrist is the goal. Other forms of accessories like rings, bracelets should be incorporated minimally.

We have heard Neo severally talk about his love for fashion and how he loves to look good, but are we seeing him portray that side of him?

On the opening ceremony of the show he  introduces himself to the world wearing a dashing piece of Agbada that earned him a compliment from Ebuka our own fashion 'god' and since then he has not shown any signs of slowing down.

Usually spotted in the house with durags and some loud colours and prints and managing to look put together even in his lounge wears  he has not failed to convey to the housemate and the audience his love for fashion. 

Some of his looks have even made twitter acknowledge him as the most fashionable male housemate in the lockdown house. 

We look forward to seeing him more on our screens while other male housemates give him a run for this title, especially Prince and Ozo.

Men's Wardrobe Essentials: Five Items Every Guy Should Own in 2020

 Every year we strive to dress better, improve our fashion game and be better groomed men. Some times we struggle but other times it comes easily to us. Now, with a few items in our wardrobe we can up our game from whatever level it is to one hundred.  These pieces will not only serve you for this year but also become foundation items for you to create outfits all through the year.

1. Two Pairs of Jean Trousers, black and blue 

A pair of properly fitted jeans is a piece every man should have in his wardrobe, a slim-straight cut of good quality can serve you for many looks and last you all year round. A black pair of jeans will create a neutral base for you to throw on a blazer and create a smart casual look or a pair of blue jeans and a white t shirt with a bomber jacket will create that look for an evening with the boys.

2. The White T-Shirt 

Arguably the most important piece in your wardrobe is this. This is a base for a lot of looks from casual, smart casual and even some business looks. You can not go wrong with this piece. It can be paired with all sorts of blazers of any colour as the neutral white allows for literally any thing with it. A good tip would be not to buy the most expensive ones in the market but buying several to alternate with to keep it new, crisp and clean to use. 

3. Your Favourite Pair of Sneakers 

Any pair of Sneakers will elevate your game ASAP and immediately. Making you super confident  and clean. Sneakers can take that boring casual look and into a fun outfit. 

4. Loafers

With the right loafers in your wardrobe several outfits have already been created for you. A pair of loafers can instantly make an outfit appear a lot more dressy and can also dress down an outfit if looking overdressed . Investing in a god pair of loafers will not only create several look for you but they last very long and even look better with age.

5. A piece of Accessory, preferably a watch

This also doesn't have to be super expensive, you can pickup a good piece at ASOS, they ship to Nigeria. You should always seal your outfit with a good watch, every gentle man should. 

 

Suiting for a Dinner

Recently, I had a dinner to attend and styling for a formal dinner is pretty easy. To play safe,  a suit is a better option.  I styled mine with a fancy bow tie, a lapel pin, a pair of leather shoes and black socks.  All pieces should complement. The key I think is not to over accessorize.

It's a formal event and elegance should be of essence. In order to achieve this, using minimal accessories is always better,  remember less is more.

I used Gold at strategic points to help create the classy effect. I consider that to be a subtle way of laying emphasis on the outfit.
The use of a pair of a long black socks was deliberate, the socks just have to be long enough; for me the longer the classier .

So, that is it.  When next you are heading for a formal even think elegance and class.

Blue Indulgence

Having an outfit created with one basic colour could be quite challenging at least for me. The key I found out is to play around with several shades of the particular colour chosen,  this creates an effect that is easy on the eye and more comfortable to wear. 

An outfit such as this is an interesting but subtle way of looking trendy with several pieces all ready available in your wardrobe.
  For this post I paired a blue pair of jeans with a double breasted cashmere jacket and a blue desert boots to create the blue indulgence.

The See-Through

My style has evolved around the vintage apparel lately, well unconsciously and only took cognizance when a friend pointed out. Everything I put on has to be comfortable and that is why I have clothes I tag  " lazy stuffs" I basically wear those outfits around the house, to the mall,etc Will definitely write a post about it one day here. 

 Now, back to this outfit, I chose it specifically because of comfort and I thought it was just daring. Putting this shoot together was  interesting , the photos were taken by UFOROdeCreator, a budding photographer who has worked on three post for me.

The outfit is minimally accessorized with a couple of rings and neck pieces.
